Here's a valuable lesson for you all.
Long story short:
An old man came into my hotel looking sick. Claimed he was an Australian doctor who got out of the hospital with no place to stay. He pointed out in hospital papers that he was heavily medicated and desperate for a room.
Out of kindness I went ahead and let him stay the night under my name.
(In his sob story, his suitcase & info was stolen when he got temporal blindness)
Through friendly conversation he found out I did graphics and cartoons.
In the span of five days he kept bothering me during my 3rd year anniversary with my girlfriend to "pay me back" for my kindness. Having his information, I went along with his shenanigans and lies. He talked to me about contract work, grants, took a bit of my money, wasted my time, In the end, he sweet talked my co-worker into giving him his information back and he ran off.
The man is good at what he does. He knows a lot about grants, business, medicine, hyperbaric chambers, computers, and he covers up his tracks real well. Uses "Oxygen.solutions@yahoo.com" to print fake invoices.
Very good for an old man.
But as my dad says, when you're old, you may get slow, but you never get dumb.
Honestly I'm more impressed than angry. Working at a hotel I know a lot about scam artists, but this is the last time I help anybody not bleeding or on the verge of death.
I'm posting this online in hopes someone will run across him, type in his name like I did, and find this post.
GOOD LUCK INTERNET.
